The Trust’s 70-bed residential centre is situated in the beautiful Herefordshire village of Longtown on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It has excellent facilities set in 16 acres of private grounds and is located between the eastern edge of the Black Mountains and the River Monnow. 

Apprentice Outdoor Activity Instructor

  • Contract term - 18 March 2019 to 31 September 2020
  • Salary scale - £7,605 (Apprentice National Minimum Wage)
  • Minimum age for applicants is 17

Are you an outdoor enthusiastic looking to start a rewarding Outdoor career? Would you relish the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications and to develop professional skills whilst earning a real wage?

Longtown Outdoor Learning Trust is looking for two enthusiastic apprentice instructors to join our young, dynamic team. This is a full time post. The successful applicants can expect to work from March 2019 until September 2020.

Experience sought 

Applicants must have some personal experience of outdoor and adventurous activities and be keen to develop personal skills and leadership skills in a range of outdoor activities.

Good organisation, communication and ICT skills are expected and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate their initiative and resourcefulness. Apprentices will work towards a Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor apprenticeship and a range of relevant outdoor skills and leadership awards. The apprenticeship is offered in partnership with Channel Training Limited.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 20 February 2019, with interviews being held on 25 or 26 February 2019.

Outdoor Activity Instructor (fixed-term)

  • Salary scale - £16,557 to £17,190 (pro rata)

Are you an enthusiastic team player looking for a new challenge in 2019?

We are looking for two enthusiastic instructors to strengthen our established team and meet the demands of our summer bookings. This exciting opportunity has resulted from the expansion of our summer operation and the development of new activities both on-site and in our local area.

Experience sought

Applicants must have at least one season’s experience of leading or coaching outdoor adventure activities and a sound understanding of relevant issues in safety and outdoor education. Applicants must hold a current first aid certificate and at least one relevant NGB award (Paddlesport, Caving, Rock Climbing, Hill Walking, Archery). Experience of bushcraft would also be welcomed.

Excellent organisation and communication skills are expected and an enhanced DBS check will be required for successful applicants.

The closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 20 February 2019, with interviews being held on 25 and 26 February 2019.
